WOW….

Jennifer Yeung:Through research, was also very shocked that Hong Kong as a mature develop city is still using sampan boat with two workers and a net to clean the ocean. It is an extremely effective way to deal with floating waste. As I was also inspired by a saying “this is more difficult to reach for it than to attract it.” I came up with an idea that it could be flexible in collecting floating trash in various location, by using suction control to attract waste that are stuck under piers or even the gaps between boats.
Sketching and form prototyping was essential in doing the design, I had to work every day non- stop at least 15 hours in the second semester to try to achieve the design that I desire. My Tutor Scott Chin take a really great role in guiding me through the project, he was supper supportive, really understanding, always gives great suggestions. He guide me to break through hard times and push me to the better good.
Jennifer Yeung.:Studying in design school have always been my dream. Since middle school I have discover my passion of art and design, I notice the art class I took at school wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to discover more about design in different environment, so I took the courage and travel all by myself to study abroad to Canada. In there it opens up my mind and taught me what makes design special, is it not only art piece but useful in a sense of value and or function.
Then I felt I never really have the chance to study the eastern side of design and moreover it is where my roots are. Therefore, I decided to came back to Hong Kong for university. In the meantime, I went to Spin Barcelona for two months of internship, which keeps me nurture in a multi-cultural experience throughout university life. PolyU is a design school that focus more into particularity, yet also let us discover the beauty in art and design. This school opens up my eyes to real life factory production, prepares us to work as professional designers in more industrial design. I spend quite a lot of memorable time in staying overnight in the studios and working in the campus. The environment gave me to also understand different programs of design, as we sometime have classes together in design history and all those fundamental design subjects.
Jennifer Yeung:
Jennifer Yeung:Yes not only I did transportation design, I did public facility, electrical appliances, bag design, shoe design, accessories design, stationaries life style and tool design. I have covered a large range of projects, while studying in school. (All in website: http://www.jenniferyeungdesign.com)。
Jennifer Yeung:I did internships while I was at the summer semester in year 3 in Barcelona, Spain in Fab Lab Barcelona. I designed a Foldable Lap desk, using traditional wood mold bending technique and using recycled pineapple leaf leather material to design the product. That product will be on in the fab market for purchase in the future.
Jennifer Yeung: as I mentioned before PolyU is a great school for practicality design, but I gives space for students in exploring further in style and esthetics, sometimes base on each tutor preferences.
Jennifer Yeung:
Jennifer Yeung: Hong Kong with the “East meets West” culture mix, and excellent location close to China for factory production use. It is considerable to be one of the best place to start product design business. Also over the years Hong Kong government have been putting great affords and recourses on promoting creative industry. Therefore, as a designer I would definitely also join in and to advocate design industry in Hong Kong. Yet Hong Kong have been seen as an economic and business city for years, it needs time for it to nurture new values in design, art and lifestyle.
Jennifer Yeung:
Jennifer Yeung:I am planning to work as a product designer and pause my academic journey, but continue with my education journey. I would love to work in anywhere in the world to obtain an international view, understand more that to get me prepare for being a mature designer. I believe to be a mature product designer the best method is to learn yet also contribute through work in a company, therefore having this chance I plan to work in a company that I can gain some design and business knowledge, and contribute my design ideas as well as excicuting skills to the company.
Jennifer Yeung:
Jennifer Yeung: I would say and drop your dream, it might sound old fashion, but is it always right. Keep your dream even in hard times, and follow it when you can.
Jennifer Yeung:
